Capstone Poster

This poster compares basic advantages and disadvantages of Hand Sanitizer as well as Soap.

Yearbook Final Cover

For this cover, I used the Richland College logo & in the green and purple color blocks, I included pictures of 2014-2015 RCHS Students. I also made all the pictures a purple/green/yellow gradient to match the school colors.
The back I dedicated to the 2015 Seniors because this is our graduation year & also incorporated the theme of diversity because we are one of the most diverse schools!

Yearbook Cover 1 (Edited Version)

For this yearbook cover, I chose to incorporate diveristy. In the center, I have the Dallas skyline because we are all from Dallas. However, around the rest of the yearbook, I have pictures from many places worldwide where RCHS students are from. This serves as a visual reminder of how although we all go to one school, we have so many different backgrounds and roots and it's a beautiful thing.
The Maya Angelou quote is a very important reminder that diversity is an amazing thing and RCHS is very fortunate to have it.

Yearbook Cover 1

For this first yearbook cover idea, I took the theme of Dallas. Since we all come from different cities, unlike other high schools, I decided to take the one thing we all have in common and use it as our cover. In the picture of the campus at the top, I put the Dallas skyline as the reflection in the lake and at the bottom, I marked out Dallas so it would read "RCHS. BIG THINGS  HAPPEN HERE."

For the back of the cover, I dedicated it to the Senior class, since its our year. I used the quote "On a scale of 1-10, we're a 15."
I think in the future, I will change the background of the back, because it is too plain.

Typography

For my typography image, I chose to use the word travel because it's a word that represents something I love.
Every single picture that is on this image, I took myself as I traveled to those places this summer. This image is a composition of images from many places around the world. There is the Eiffel Tower in France, The Colosseum & the dome of St. Peter's Basilica in Italy, and the day view as well as the night view of the skyline in Cairo, Egypt.
I chose to blend the pictures together because that is similar to how traveling is. As you experience things and see them in real life, you create these memories that all tie back to one thing, which is a love for traveling. I enjoyed the opportunity to go out this summer and see things I had never  before seen & this image really captures my love for travel.

Template Review

Coffee vs. Tea
I really liked this template because it compares two similar items. Of course, I would change this to make it soap vs. sanitizer because that's what my capstone project is about. I would also change the color scheme to be blue and white instead of green because blue is the color of water and white/clear is for hand sanitizer. I also like this template because it includes many small graphs in creative ways. Not only are those graphs helpful, but they also display the information in a simplistic way that isn't too hard to read. The visuals on this template are also easy on the eye, so it would work very well for someone who wants to quickly learn about the differences between hand washing and using hand sanitizer.

Dark 2
The dark 2 template is really neat because it is very eye-catching. The colors for this template are a black background and then several other bold colors for the text and graphics. I like that its so vivid because it's not everyday that you see black posters. This would grab an audiences' attention. The second thing I like about the poster is the organization. The arrangement is not cluttered and this makes the poster look much more professional. Lastly, I like the balance between text and graphics on this picture. There aren't too many of each and this makes it more attractive to the viewer.

Apropos
This template has mostly a white background. I love it because its simple, it's properly divided into 3 segments, and it gives the editor a lot of space to include information. This one will be very beneficial for displaying lots of information without flooding the poster with too many words.

Capstone Poster Outline

The title of my capstone poster will be "Hand Sanitizer vs. Soap" similar to the template I saw of "Coffee vs. Tea". This is because my capstone project is about hand hygiene and discusses both of these methods of hand washing and their effectiveness.
Beneath the title, I will have a split image of hand sanitizer and soap that will be seamlessly edited to make them look like one picture. Under the side of hand sanitizer, I will have easy-to-read information about hand sanitizer such as its cost and its effectiveness. Similarly, underneath the soap picture, I will incorporate the same information to compare and contrast both methods of hand washing. All this information will be based on the research I have been doing regarding hand hygiene.
For the theme of the poster, it will be different shades of blue, because this would match the theme of water and hand washing. There are also many beneficial features on photoshop such as a ripple effect that would match the theme and make the poster look better put together.
Because this poster is something that will be presented as part of the capstone project, I aim to make it unique and eye-catching. I will use fonts that grab the readers attention and are ones that they may have never seen before. This will make my poster look much more professional.
In conclusion, this poster will be an informative as well as interesting one. I hope that with a few minor changes later on during the semester, I will be able to print it on a larger scale and present it with my project!
